Love: The Greatest

” If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but did not love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of god’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but did not love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I did not love others, I would have gained nothing.” – 1 Corinthians 13:1-2

Make love a habit.

We can acquire all the positive behavior in the world, gather all the skills required for success, learn all the languages, be proactive, be mindful, lose weight, eat healthy, be organized, be timely, communicate effectively, and be so perfect in all our doings.

However, the scripture says, we have gained nothing if we do it outside love for others.
Loving others is important because it is first a command to us and second it is how we express our love to God. Little wonder God’s word says, “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister”.

God is our source and our foundation; He is the one that makes behavior change happen. We need Him for everything, the least we can give back to Him is to love others. In expressing love to others, happy chemicals that help improve our wellbeing are released. They help reduce stress, promote a healthier lifestyle, and help us live longer.

Express love to someone today – give money, buy food, call an old friend, compliment someone, say “I love you” to someone and mean it. Declare over yourself, “I courageously confess that I am a source of God’s love to myself, my family, my relationships, my colleagues, my community, and my world. So, help me God. Amen!”

Prayer Moment

Thank You Holy Spirit for Your love that is shed abroad in my heart. I am thankful that You empower me to love as Jesus loves. From today, open my eyes to see those around me so that I can extend a hand of fellowship and show love in practical ways to them. May I not be caught up in selfishness and catering to my own needs only in Jesus name.

Amen!
