Why Am I Even Here?
If we pause long enough from all our daily activities, when we have a few quite moments, when we can search within ourselves, we often sense a certain discontent in our hearts. We often know that there’s more. There’s more to the usual activities, there has to be more. Life cannot just be all about this, there must be so much more.
If you feel this type of discontent, then we are on the same page. Is there more to life than what you’re currently experiencing? Yes, there has to be! And the yearning you feel in your heart is from God, He has specially designed us to long for more than just the ordinary. He created us for a Reason.
“Why am I even here?”
If this is your question, then you are asking right. The first step in discovering why you are here is to know that there’s a greater purpose for your life.
“There are two great days in a person’s life – the day we are born and the day we discover why” – William Barclay
As a Daughter of God, it is the ‘why’ that drives you. It is what gives your life the momentum to keep moving. So, why are you here, and how do you discover that purpose?
If you want to discover your ‘why’? You need to Listen! What do you listen to?
- Learn to listen to your Discontentment. Your discontentment and dissatisfaction is often an indication of what God will like for you to do. Whatever irks you is what you’re likely itching to change. So, listen to that voice of discontentment, it may be an indication of what God is leading you to do.
- Listen to Your Gifts and Talents. What do you love to do? What comes naturally to you? What can you do with your eyes closed, effortlessly? Listen to what God has endowed you with, it is an indication of where He will like to have you.
“And I have personally appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant. Moreover, I have given special skill to all the gifted craftsmen so they can make all the things I have commanded you to make:” – Exodus 31:6 [NLT]
- Listen To Your Experiences. What have you been through? What has God helped you to come out of? What storms have you been able to come out from? Whatever scars you have to show for your battles are the things God will use to help you to comfort others.
“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.” – 2 Corinthians 1:4 [NLT]
- Listen to God. God is the one who sent you here. He knows why He sent you. You can ask Him. He knows all about your life.
“You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” – Psalm 139:16
There’s so much more to you, you need to dig it out. The most important part of discovering God’s will for your life is to be willing to please Him always, and be willing to take whatever route He may have mapped out for your life. Once you’re settled in this, it becomes easier for you to begin to see and discover what God wants you to do.
Wherever His gentle hands guide you, you follow Him and in this process, discover His Best for your life.
God’s Blessings,
