Absolutely Furious? Seriously?
“Absolutely Furious?”
“Seriously?”
“I want to make my life better, fix my home, add value to myself, be an awesome parent, and SOMEONE IS FURIOUS?!”
A dear sister shared a scripture earlier today, and my eyes just lit up, and I thought, “Really?” I looked through the scripture further and I was able to pick out some life lessons. [Nehemiah 4: 7-18 – Message Bible]
- Not Everyone Likes You – including your ‘Best of Friends’. If you think for a moment that everyone is happy at your success, you better think again. Not everyone is glad you’re doing great. In fact those you call first with your good news are not usually the ones with the best of intentions towards you.
- Don’t Be Moved By People’s Opinions of Your Journey and Success. I mean, the enemy heard that the repairs of the walls were going so well, and they were just not happy. They had the guts to be absolutely furious because “the breaks in the wall were being fixed”. I don’t care if the enemy is furious or not, I am not going to stop fixing all the Breaks in my wall.
When Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairs of the walls of Jerusalem were going so well—that the breaks in the wall were being fixed—they were absolutely furious. – Nehemiah 4:7
- Expect The Worst and Prepare for It. They put their heads together and then decided to fight and create as much trouble as possible. If only they were just angry, and kept their anger to themselves. But, No, they had to act on it and then cause trouble for the work. But, I like the fact those fixing the walls just didn’t talk about their problems and troubles, or just sit there moping, they got up and they did something about it.
- To Your Faith Add Works. They did not only pray, they also set a round-the-clock watch. It’s not enough to just pray, you must also watch. And don’t give up – Keep fixing Your Walls.
They put their heads together and decided to fight against Jerusalem and create as much trouble as they could. We countered with prayer to our God and set a round-the-clock guard against them...So I stationed armed guards at the most vulnerable places of the wall and assigned people by families with their swords, lances, and bows…Our enemies learned that we knew all about their plan and that God had frustrated it. And we went back to the wall and went to work – Nehemiah 4:9,13,15
Don’t Let Any Furious Face Stop You!
Blessings,
