Drown Them Out
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as braided hair or gold jewelry or fine clothes, but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight”.
– 1 Peter 3:3-4 (Berean Study Bible)
Drown out all other voices.
Do you remember the chaotic scenario we shared in a typical mom’s daily routine? I am sure you do! You are probably living out that life right now – maybe it’s your everyday life.
But you know what? As moms, we must come to the place of cultivating a quiet spirit in our lives, if we will be able to envision the future that God desires for us. We need to be quiet to hear what God wants for us, without polluting our hearts with the voices around us.
Do you know what a quiet spirit is like?
It is a state of quietness where, even though there is a lot of noise on the outside, you experience total calm within you.
Do you know or remember the story of Jesus and His disciples during a storm?
“That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
You need to be like Jesus, drown out all other voices of fear, human opinions, approval of men, human expectations. Whatever voice is speaking that is not of God is the voice that needs to be silenced, and cling only to God’s voice about your future.
Today is a good day to say to your heart, “Peace be still, my heart, so that I can hear the Lord speak to me.”
Let me remind you again, life is easiest when God speaks to you. So, go ahead today, and speak peace to your heart.
Let every other voice fade away and let Jesus alone fill the space in your heart that listens.
You’ve got this mama!
Prayer Moment
Lord, I must confess that I am often terrified of the storms and the raging waters of life that I find myself in. Sometimes, I panic and let fear get the best of me.
Lord, today, I come before You with a desire to surrender to Your will. May Your peace wash over me as I trade my fears for Your joy and peace.
Help me to remember where my focus should be and in whom my trust lies. May I never forget that You, Lord, are God over every situation in Jesus’ name.
– Amen
Love,
