Mom Disciples

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
– Deuteronomy 6:4-9

A disciple is a follower, for the purpose of learning, imitation and becoming more like the Master. Do you see yourself as a disciple, dear mom? I hope you do.

Being a disciple is such a privilege, one that we must never take for granted. It is also a two-pronged responsibility – to grow and to grow others too.

As a mom disciple, we have the responsibility to grow and deepen our faith, and mature in Christ. On the other side is a responsibility to help others grow, starting from those in our own households – our children.

There will be no greater ministry or calling than the one to those in your household first. God desires that we place importance on discipling the little or big ones He has placed in our care.

Whenever you feel that friction, tussle, or conflict between your ministry to your family and the one you have to those outside, always remember that God called you first to disciple your family.
