Kids need boundaries and rules!

Discipline actually requires a whole lot of effort. Believe me, sometimes it’s just easier to let the kids misbehave and not do anything about it.
After a long day, I just wish to sit, curl up in the chair with a good book to read – I don’t really want to do any ‘Mommying’. I wish someone would ‘mommy’ me too.
But, do you realize that we need to train our children to be useful to themselves and the community at large? Raising responsible children is imperative, it forms the bedrock of any responsible society.
Imagine what it’d be like if we all were left to do whatever we wanted? There would be chaos everywhere!
So it is with kids, setting boundaries for them, and applying discipline when necessary is essential for them.
So, don’t feel bad if you need to discipline your kids, you’re only helping them to get better.
Before you set rules for your kids, make sure you will be disciplined enough to follow through with the rules. Don’t start what you won’t finish. Our kids are very smart, they know parents that can be easily manipulated. They know how to make you change your mind when you have laid down an instruction. You should only change your instruction if you feel there’s a good reason to, not just because your kids don’t like the instruction you’ve given them.

Don’t let your kids take you on a guilt trip, have the Courage to Discipline them.
“But kids don’t stay with you if you do it right. It’s the one job where, the better you are, the more surely you won’t be needed in the long run.” – Barbara Kingsolver, Pigs in Heaven
