Tips Tuesday – Use A Planner

Think your brain is magnetic and you’ve got things all figured out? That’s me right there. I used to think I was good like that! No need to write down what I need done – of course I would remember. How wrong I was.

Fast forward to the new me. The joy of my phone beeping to remind me that it’s almost time to stop my present task and move on to a new one is sheer bliss. The amount of work I have been able to get done in the times that I have started to use a planner that works for me is amazing. I just wonder where my planner has been all my life.

Are you the way I used to be? You think you’ve got it all figured out without a planner? You need to think again! Believe me, your planner is closer than you think.

Today’s Tip, as I am sure you can already guess is:

PLANNER

Use A Planner

The kind of planner you choose is entirely up to you though. You can decide to go the traditional way of Paper planners or you can use digital planners.

I love the digital ones because I love digital stuff – period. It’s your choice and it depends on what you prefer. I still use paper and pen to gather my thoughts together though and then, I put the stuff I have planned on paper into my digital calendar.

The most important part of using a planner is to use it. If it won’t work for you because you don’t like your choice, then there’s no point to that. I have gone digital because I realize my kind of person, I can get engrossed in doing something great that I love that I end up forgetting to move on to the next great thing. So, you need to make sure that you get a planner that works for you, your kind of person and your lifestyle.

I use Evernote to capture my thoughts if I suddenly remember something that I forgot to do, or someone tells me to do something and I don’t want to forget. I then transfer this information to google calendar to schedule it into my day. I use Google calendar for every bit of my day. It helps me to stay productive. Every part of my day I put on that calendar because I will not remember to open a planner if it wasn’t a digital one!

Can you relate? Have you used planners before? Did that work for you? What kind of planner do you use? Please share your thoughts with me as I am always looking for what’s working for people so I can go use them too.

Remain awesome,

  1. Yep, I’m very similar. I have to write things down if I want them done! I have used so many productivity apps over the years, trying to find the right fit. And I’ve now happily settled with these apps: Google Keep (which is great for checklists) and Planner Master for scheduling.
